Chester Schools Christian Work functions with two core areas of work:

Spiritual Development and Personal Development.

Spiritual Development

We are grateful for the value schools place on our contribution to the curriculum as part of the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Rooted in Christian traditions of prayer, our prayer and reflection spaces provide opportunities for children and young people to connect with God and consider how they engage with the world.

We are delighted to be able to support the excellent RE teaching in Chester schools by offering contributions to lessons or whole lessons on a variety of topics across the curriculum.

These bespoke groups reflect the ethos and needs of the individual school and pupils whilst creating a safe environment to explore faith, spirituality and living life to the full.

We aim to support schools by providing inspirational, interesting and interactive assemblies where we seek to encourage reflection on spiritual and moral issues to further develop healthy communities.

Personal Development

Wellbeing is currently the fastest growing element of our work in schools. It has been developed in response to needs and concerns identified by young people. It is a privilege for us to be invited to work alongside students and staff in a variety of different support roles. These enable us to work with both individuals and groups and to build good relationships.

With a focus on the HOPE and POTENTIAL that high school brings, we address areas of concerns this transition can bring as we support year 6 pupils with a Moving To High School lesson with links to our high school workers. Each pupil is given an It’s Your Move book written by Scripture Union

We offer support for school residential trips with a wealth of experience within the team. Schools have found this to be a great resource and hugely beneficial for ongoing links and sessions.

We offer individual mentoring and have also become partners with Kintsugi Hope. We are now able to offer emotional and mental wellbeing groups for high school students to support and equip them to develop and increase their emotional resilience.

We equip young people to make informed decisions for relationships and sexual activity. Our holistic approach is from a solid foundation of value and emotional wellbeing within healthy relationships.
