The Trust
Our Vision
The Trust exists to be a resource to the Chester Schools and to
work with others in establishing, maintaining and developing an
effective Christian presence there.
Chester Schools' Christian Work will demonstrate and share the Christian message of God's love through building relationships with staff and pupils and developing a supportive work in Chester schools.
We aim to achieve this by:
• Building up and maintaining genuine relationship between
young people and Christians
• Being a positive, credible, Christian influence into the
lives of young people
• The motivation, organisation and inspiration of local people
to actively support their local schools
• Calling Chester Churches to pray for the outreach to their
local schools
CSCW has seven trustees they are:
Brian Young is the chair and attends Waverton Evangelical Fellowship where he serves as an Elder. He was a teacher before he retired in 1990. He is also a member of Scripture Union’s National Council. He is an avid Newcastle United fan!
Nigel Mountford describes himself as the oldest youth worker in town! He is employed by the Chester Methodist Circuit and also works for the Wesley Methodist Church. He has 4 children who are in various stages of school life and sees his involvement in CSCW as a way of contributing to good Christian input into local schools. He is an avid Birmingham City fan!
Tim Jackson is the Newest Trustee. He is the minister of URC in Vicars Cross. Tim is keen to see work with Young People in Chester grow and CSCW is one way in which he is supporting that.
Jim Ellis is the silent trustee. He is a member of All Saints’ Church and a solicitor. He has been a trustee since ’94 but in the past two years has taken a back seat role offering legal advice to trust. He has three children and is an avid Liverpool fan.
Roger Jeavons has been leading QSCC since 1997 and describes Church leadership as bringing many challenges but also many joys. He is married with two grown up children and even grandchildren. Roger became a trustee of CSCW in 2007 and sees it as a privilege to serve as a trustee. Roger believes the work of CSCW is vital because many school pupils have limited contacts with Christians.
Peter Coates is the Deputy Head of the Bishops' High School in Chester. He is married with two teenage children. Through his work Peter has seen first hand the impact that CSCW has had in the schools and was delighted to become a trustee in 2007. Peter sees the work of CSCW as being of great value as all those involved with the trust provide a positive image of Christianity to pupils and staff alike. Peter is a keen runner and worships at St Michael's at Newton School.
Sheila Lister also became a trustee in 2007 she is married and has two children in high school. Sheila is a part time teacher of RE in Christleton High School and, like Peter, sees CSCW's work face to face. The CU at Christleton meet in Sheila's classroom and She has been very encouraged seeing that group grow. Sheila is a member of the eldership team of Northgate Church
